Drywall and plaster as we all know, can easily be damaged by the most innocuous items. Obviously kicking and punching walls aren’t good for them but how about all the subtle causes of damage.
Water leaks – please please if you find a water leak react to it and get the leak stopped. When the drywall is being repaired, it is prudent to cut out and inspect the inside of the drywall as mold can build up very quickly on the inside of walls. Even a small amount of mold can grow and cause a problem days, weeks or months later. Give us a call straight away and we can help you; Property Property801-883-9220.
Furniture – So many drywall repairs are caused by furniture. Try to keep all furniture at least 1 inch away from any walls this will prevent damp spots building up and the surface being damaged. This also goes for dressers and wardrobes.
Wheelchairs – They can cause large holes, in preparation use a deep baseboard and corner beading on corners to limit the amount of drywall that could be hit.
Falling through the ceiling – People do occasionally make a mistake when in the attic and end up putting a foot through the ceiling. If you expect to use your attic regularly consider boarding the whole area or at least a walkway. Save your ceiling and yourself too!
